Smart recreational boat startup MIRAVA has raised €4.2 million, equivalent to $5 million, in angel funding. The capital will finance its shift from a three-year product development phase into small-batch manufacturing and initial customer shipments.
According to the company, the funding milestone marks a critical transition from a development-focused entity to a commercial one. The investment will support continued refinement of its intelligent systems while scaling up manufacturing and delivery operations. MIRAVA's first major market introductions are scheduled for September 2026 at the Cannes Yachting Festival and January 2027 at boot Düsseldorf.
A platform for multiple experiences
MIRAVA has spent three years developing its first product, which it describes as a platform rather than a traditional single-purpose boat. The company argues the established recreational boating market is organized around specific activities like cruising, fishing, or water-sports. MIRAVA's core idea is that the boat should adapt to the user, not the other way around.
Its design centers on a modular stern. The aft section can be reconfigured for different activities, and a detachable portion can operate independently as a tender or water platform. This modularity aims to let one boat support cruising, family leisure, socializing, swimming, fishing, and water-sports.
Intelligent technology as a practical enabler
The startup is applying autonomous and intelligent systems to practical boating scenarios. Its technology suite is designed to reduce operational complexity, allowing users to focus on their experience.
The intelligent navigation system includes several automated functions:
MIRAVA sees this technology as an enabler of freedom, rather than a demonstration of technical capability. A company representative stated the objective is to "reduce some of the complexity involved in operating a boat."
Defining a new product category
MIRAVA's ambition goes beyond adding autonomous features or electric propulsion to an existing boat type. The company is attempting to synthesize several trends-intelligent navigation, modular design, connected interaction, and multi-purpose use-into a single ownership experience.
This creates what MIRAVA believes is a new category: an intelligent recreational boat designed around how people want to use it, rather than a predefined, single activity. For a traditional market, this represents a different proposition.
With development complete and funding secured, the company's next phase involves production, delivery, and market introduction. Its debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival will be the first test of this proposition with potential customers and the wider European marine industry.
