Strolll, a Stafford-based software-as-a-medical-device (SaMD) company using Augmented Reality for neurorehabilitation, has secured a new round of investment led by IW Capital, with participation from Cleveland Clinic and Future Planet Capital Regional. Additionally, Innovate UK has separately provided the company with a €4.18 million (£3.6 million) innovation loan and an €813.2k (£700k) Growth Catalyst Investor Partnerships (GCIP) award. The two awards fund two distinct projects and together provide €5 million (£4.3 million) in funding for Strolll. In March 2025, the company raised a €12.2 million Series A funding round led by IW Capital.

Founded in 2018, Strolll is a MedTech startup that develops digital therapeutics software delivered via AR glasses to provide clinically proven and patented neurorehabilitation to patients living with neurological disorders. It supports therapy in both clinic and home settings.

According to the company, the neurorehabilitation market is growing as more people need access to rehabilitation and ongoing support. Strolll claims that it is helping to meet this need through augmented reality, making rehabilitation more engaging and easier to access while helping clinicians support patients through their recovery.

Funding Breakdown and Strategic Backing

The €5 million total combines distinct financial instruments. Innovate UK provided a €4.18 million innovation loan and a separate €813.2k Growth Catalyst Investor Partnerships award. Private investment was led by IW Capital, with participation from Cleveland Clinic and Future Planet Capital Regional. This follows a €12.2 million Series A round led by IW Capital in March 2025.

Scott O’Brien, Chief Investment Officer at Innovate UK, commented on the backing. "Across two innovations, Strolll has secured Innovate UK backing because it has proven both its technical excellence and a credible route to commercial success," he said. "De-risking later stage innovation through debt finance while providing grant alongside private capital demonstrates how Innovate UK is committed to providing the right product at the right time to accelerate innovation and fuel catalyse business growth."

Accelerating AI-Powered Assessment

The company has secured the €4.18 million Innovate UK innovation loan to accelerate the development of StrolllAssessment, a platform that combines AI with a fully equipped biomechanics lab that mirrors real-world rehabilitation settings. Strolll states that by enabling multiple validation studies to take place simultaneously, the platform could reduce a process that traditionally takes years to just months. And it can do so while providing a scalable, standards-compliant approach to validating automated clinical assessments.

With this innovation loan, StrolllAssessment will extend the platform by using AI to automate the clinical validation of digital neuromotor assessments. The innovation loan will also support the company in establishing a fully equipped biomechanics lab at its office in Stafford, designed to mirror real-world rehabilitation settings and allow validation of multiple new digital assessments concurrently.

Launching Bedside AR for Acute Care

With the €813.2k GCIP award and more than €1.16 million (£1 million) in investor funding, Strolll will introduce StrolllAcute, a bedside-first augmented reality rehabilitation system designed specifically for acute, bed-bound patients. It enables early therapeutic intervention without changing existing ward workflows or increasing staff burden.

CEO and co-founder Jorgen Ellis outlined the mission driving the funding. "Our team is committed to revolutionising rehabilitation for those living with neurological disorders," Ellis said. "This funding will help us accelerate our mission to increase patient engagement, support progression and help clinicians deliver effective neurorehabilitation to a wider patient population."

The investment provides Strolll with the backing to accelerate its continued growth and extend its product leadership.
