Axiology and VIALET launch tokenised money market fund partnership
Lithuanian fintech firms Axiology and VIALET have partnered to enable tokenised money market funds for client fund safeguarding, offering electronic money institutions diversified, same-day liquidity cash holdings.

Axiology and VIALET announced a collaboration on 27 October 2026 to enable tokenised money market funds for client fund safeguarding and corporate treasury management with same-day liquidity. The partnership aims to help electronic money institutions balance asset quality and diversification while maintaining immediate access to cash. Marius Jurgilas, Chief Executive Officer of Axiology, stated that funds must be accessible when payments need to be settled. His counterpart at VIALET, CEO Mantas Staliūnas, said they set four non-negotiable requirements: same-day liquidity, high asset quality, regulatory clarity and lean operations.
The collaboration allows VIALET to diversify its holdings beyond individual banks while maintaining intraday cash access through a separate liquidity provider arrangement. It adds eligible tokenised money market funds to VIALET’s existing client fund safeguarding options, which include accounts at credit institutions and investment-grade government bonds. The partnership specifically mitigates safeguarding challenges created by traditional money market fund redemption cut-off times.
Technical and Regulatory Framework
Axiology is a Lithuanian capital markets infrastructure provider operating under the EU DLT Pilot Regime. VIALET is a Lithuanian electronic money institution licensed by the Bank of Lithuania in 2017. Through the partnership, VIALET gains access to Lithuania-regulated digital securities infrastructure via Axiology's distributed ledger technology system under that EU pilot framework.
This technical foundation provides the regulated digital securities infrastructure necessary for the tokenised funds. Tokenising fund units does not, by itself, remove redemption constraints for money market funds. The innovation lies in the layered operational structure built atop the tokenisation.
Liquidity and Operational Innovation
The core innovation addresses the mismatch between payment settlement needs and fund redemption schedules. Axiology has a separate arrangement with an eligible liquidity provider for intraday cash access without changing the funds' underlying redemption terms. This solves the critical challenge of using money market funds for payment institutions, which typically face standard redemption cut-off times that are incompatible with instant payment flows.
VIAELET can thus access cash during the day while the tokenised funds themselves settle on their standard timeline. The arrangement provides intraday liquidity without altering the fundamental terms of the money market fund investments.
Market Context and Scale
The move comes as tokenised money market funds gain significant traction in European fintech infrastructure. The global market for these instruments grew by approximately 110% in 2025, reaching around €7 billion by February 2026, according to the European Central Bank.
VIAELET brings substantial scale to the partnership. The firm manages approximately €150 million in assets and processed €6 billion in gross payment volume over the 12 months preceding the announcement. It employs more than 100 people across offices in Vilnius and Riga. As a principal member of Mastercard and Visa with direct connections to European payment networks, VIALET provides payment accounts, card issuing, acquiring, and transfers for businesses in regulated industries.
Tokenised money market funds are now being explored for uses far beyond securities trading, particularly in financial services requiring both asset diversification and immediate cash access. The partnership enables VIALET to access cash intraday without changing the funds' underlying redemption terms.
