Aspirity Partners leads a €100 million+ investment to acquire a majority stake in Danish IoT infrastructure company...

Aspirity Partners has signed a definitive agreement to acquire a majority stake in Onomondo. The England-based private equity firm is leading a combined investment exceeding one hundred million euros. Denmark’s state investment fund, EIFO, will increase its existing stake alongside the deal. EIFO has been a backer of the IoT company since 2021.

Onomondo’s infrastructure and market position

Onomondo is a Copenhagen-based Internet of Things infrastructure and connectivity company. It runs its own network to connect machines and sensors. The firm serves more than five hundred businesses across over one hundred countries.

Its customers include major corporate clients like Maersk, Carlsberg, and Husqvarna. The company has deployed what is reportedly the world’s largest private LTE network at sea. This network spans more than 450 Maersk vessels.

Onomondo’s platform provides native access to nearly seven hundred mobile networks worldwide. Its technology connects devices such as trackers and sensors in factories and other industrial settings.

Technology and differentiation

The company’s infrastructure is anchored by patented Cloud Connectors and a proprietary, end-to-end technology stack. This stack is purpose-built for a world experiencing an acceleration of device connectivity. It creates a single, unified platform connecting the device, the network, and the cloud across global operations.

Onomondo abstracts away network friction. It provides the invisible architecture needed for universal connectivity of everything. The deployed infrastructure spans the device, the Radio Access Network, and the cloud.

This hybrid public-private network capability is critical. It allows a Maersk vessel to transition seamlessly between a private shipboard network and global public networks. The infrastructure lets companies collect, process, and act on real-world data in challenging locations. These include ships, trucks, factories, and remote industrial sites where conventional connectivity often fails.

Leadership and strategic vision

Rasmus Jensen became chief executive of Onomondo in 2025. Henrik Aagaard is the company’s co-founder and chief technology officer. Jensen stated that the traditional market approach offered simple connectivity and left enterprises to manage the operational complexity. Onomondo took a different path by building the missing foundational infrastructure layer.

Aagaard emphasized that while AI has unlocked the ability to process huge amounts of data, the next challenge is creating the right data and getting it to the right place. He identified this as an infrastructure problem, which Onomondo has spent eight years solving. Their network gives customers a consistent way to connect devices, create data, and build intelligence into the physical world.

Aspirity Partners cited Onomondo's structural differentiation and a shared vision for the platform’s future as key reasons for the investment. Joseph O’Mara, founder and Managing Partner at Aspirity, said the firm was proud to partner with Onomondo as its first investment in the Nordic region. This move executes its pan-European strategy.

Funding context and next steps

The combined investment of more than €100 million represents a substantial commitment to terrestrial IoT infrastructure and international deployment. The deal was announced on a Wednesday. It still requires regulatory approval.

The transaction is expected to close in the first three months of 2027.
