Refurbed co-founder to keynote EU-Startups Summit 2027

Kilian Kaminski, co-founder of the refurbished electronics marketplace refurbed, will deliver a keynote address at the EU-Startups Summit 2027. The event is scheduled for May 13-14 in Malta, according to the event organizer EU-Startups.

His presentation is titled "Fixing the future: How sustainable entrepreneurship can change the world and be profitable." Kaminski will draw on his experience scaling refurbed to argue that commercial success and environmental impact are not mutually exclusive goals for founders.

From Amazon to a Circular Marketplace

Kaminski was one of three founders who launched refurbed in Vienna in 2017. Before that, he worked at Amazon Germany, where he led the Amazon Certified Refurbished Program and managed key retail accounts. He studied Communication and Business Administration in Hamburg, Shanghai, and London.

The company he helped build, refurbed, is a marketplace for refurbished electronics and other consumer goods. It started in Germany and now operates in 24 countries with a team of nearly 300 employees. The platform lists over 65,000 products.

Scaling a Sustainable Business Model

Refurbed has raised more than €160 million in total funding. This includes a €50 million extension to its Series C round in 2025. The company's growth illustrates the potential of circular business models, a topic central to Kaminski's upcoming talk.

He is reportedly set to explore how mission-driven ideas can transform into fast-growing European companies. His keynote will examine the lessons founders can learn from this journey.

Advocacy Beyond the Company

Kaminski's involvement in the circular economy extends beyond his own firm. He serves on the board of the European Refurbishment Association. He frequently speaks about industry regulation and his goal to establish refurbishment as a major consumption category alongside new and used goods.

He recently appeared on the EU-Startups Podcast to discuss refurbed's journey and building trust in second-life electronics.

The 2027 Summit Details

The EU-Startups Summit 2027 expects to gather approximately 2,500 attendees in Malta. The crowd will include founders, investors, and other ecosystem players. The two-day event will feature keynotes, fireside chats, workshops, and networking opportunities.

It aims to shows prominent European startups and connect attendees with successful entrepreneurs. The organizer describes it as an "unmissable edition" for the community.
