Plinto secures €2.9 million for AI financial error detection
Copenhagen startup Plinto raised a €2.9 million pre-Seed round led by People Ventures and Emblem. The funding will scale its AI agents that detect and resolve financial transaction errors in real time for enterprises.

Plinto has raised €2.9 million in pre-Seed funding to deploy AI agents that detect and resolve financial transaction errors in real time. The Copenhagen-based startup, founded by former Peakon executives, secured the round led by People Ventures and Emblem.
The company was founded in early 2025 by Nermina Suljevic, Jakob Nielsen, and Sebastian Rehnby. All founders, along with chief technology officer Andreas Garnæs, previously worked at the employee feedback platform Peakon. Suljevic serves as CEO, with Nielsen as chief design officer.
How the technology works
Plinto’s AI agents integrate with a company's existing financial infrastructure. They sit on top of systems like enterprise resource planning software, bank feeds, and collaboration tools such as Slack or Microsoft Teams.
The platform automates checks that finance teams typically perform manually. Agents compare payments against contracts, budgets, and internal policies. When a transaction is flagged, the system investigates, gathers supporting evidence, and follows up with relevant internal or external contacts.
Jakob Nielsen described the platform as a component of background infrastructure rather than a standalone accounts payable solution. The agents contact the appropriate people for each payment, meaning staff do not need to learn additional tools. Plinto integrates with major ERP platforms including Microsoft Business Central, Xero, and Visma, and connects to major Scandinavian banks and over 2,700 other financial institutions globally. All data is processed and stored within the EU, and the company does not use customer data to train its AI models.
The platform covers both order-to-cash and procure-to-pay workflows. Agents can contact suppliers about wrongful invoices, request credit notes, or prepare corrections for internal approval.
Proof of impact and market need
In large organisations, transaction volumes often exceed what finance teams can review manually. Controllers typically rely on spot checks or end-of-month reconciliations. This leaves room for errors like incorrect prices, duplicate invoices, or mismatched deliveries to go unnoticed until after payment.
Plinto’s early results highlight the scale of the problem. According to the company, its agents identified around 430 discrepancies per month in one area of a single customer's business. At another customer, the system caught a duplicate invoice submitted with a different supplier name in the same minute it arrived, preventing a second payment.
CEO Nermina Suljevic noted that many customers operate on low margins, where small errors quickly add up. The core issue is that mistakes are often only discovered after money has left the account. Plinto aims to help companies catch and fix errors before they impact the bottom line.
The startup currently has paying customers and pilot projects across several industries, including logistics, real estate, facility services, and food production.
Growth plans and vision
With the new capital, Plinto plans to accelerate product development and attract more enterprise customers. A key strategic move involves expanding beyond its home market for the first time. The funding will support its initial launch outside Denmark, aiming to bring real-time financial error detection to a broader international market.
The €2.9 million pre-Seed round was led by People Ventures and Emblem, with participation from several business angels. Plinto plans to use the funding for product development and to attract more enterprise customers.
